Aitareya Upanishad 2.1

पुरुषे ह वा अयमादितोऽगर्भो भवति यदेतद्रेतः | तदेतत्सर्वेभ्योऽङ्गेभ्यस्तेजः सम्भूतमात्मन्येवात्मानं धारयति ॥

purushe ha va ayam adito'garbho bhavati yad etad retah | tad etat sarvebhyo'ngebhyas tejah sambhutam atmany evatmanam dharayati ||

In the man first the embryo comes into being as seed. This seed is the vigour gathered from all the limbs; he bears the self within his own self.

पुरुष में यह (आत्मा) पहले गर्भ-रूप में रेत (वीर्य) के रूप में स्थित होता है। यही रेत समस्त अंगों से सञ्चित तेज है; वह अपने आत्मा को अपने ही भीतर धारण करता है।
