Atharva Veda (Śaunaka) 1.115

अमूः पारे पृदाक्वस्त्रिषप्ता निर्जरायवः । तासां जरायुभिर्वयमक्ष्यावपि व्ययामस्यघायोः परिपन्थिनः

1.27.1 — amuh pare pridakvastrishapta nirjarayavah | tasam jarayubhirvayamakshyavapi vyayamasyaghayoh paripanthinah

Yonder on the further shore are she-adders, thrice seven, out of their sloughs (-jarā́yu); with the sloughs of them do we wrap up (ápi vyā) the (two) eyes of the malignant waylayer.

वे मादा सर्पिणियाँ (पृदाक्वस्) परे उस पार हैं, इक्कीस, अपनी केंचुल से निकली हुईं। उनकी केंचुलों से हम दुर्भावी मार्ग-लुटेरे की दोनों आँखें ढँक देते हैं।
