विद्मा शरस्य पितरं पर्जन्यं भूरिधायसम् । विद्मो ष्वस्य मातरं पृथिवीं भूरिवर्पसम्

1.2.1 — vidma sharasya pitaram parjanyam bhuridhayasam | vidmo shvasya mataram prithivim bhurivarpasam

We know the reed's father, Parjanya the much-nourishing; and we know well its mother, the earth of many aspects.

हम शर (बाण-तृण) के पिता पर्जन्य को जानते हैं, जो बहुत पोषण करने वाले हैं; और उसकी माता पृथिवी को भी भली-भाँति जानते हैं, जो अनेक रूपों वाली है।
