Verse 1

Now, therefore, the inquiry into Brahman.

Brahman is that from which the origin, sustenance, and dissolution of this universe proceed.

Because scripture is the means of knowing Brahman.

But that Brahman is known from the scriptures, because of the consistent teaching of all Vedantic texts.

Because of the mention of 'seeing' (willing), the pradhana of the Sankhyas is not meant.
