Brahma Sutras 3.38

श्रवणाध्ययनार्थप्रतिषेधात्स्मृतेश्च ॥

shravana-adhyayana-artha-pratishedhat smritesh cha

Because of the prohibition of hearing and study for certain classes, and from the Smriti.
