Brahma Sutras 5.18

असद्व्यपदेशान्नेति चेन्न धर्मान्तरेण वाक्यशेषात् ॥

asad-vyapadeshat na iti chen na dharmantarena vakya-sheshat

If it be said that because of the designation as non-existent, the effect is not pre-existent, we say no, because of the other attribute mentioned in the rest of the passage.

यदि [कहो कि] "असत्-व्यपदेश (असत् कहे जाने) से [कार्य] पूर्व-असत् था" — [तो] नहीं, क्योंकि [उसी] वाक्य के शेष भाग से [कार्य का] धर्मान्तर (अन्य गुण/अवस्था) [की सत्ता] ज्ञात होती है ॥
