Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.11

तं मृत्युः यथा मत्स्यमुदके परिपश्येदेवं पर्यपश्यदृचि यजुषि सामनि । ते ज्ञात्वोर्ध्वा ऋचो यजुष्मत्साम्नोऽतिमुच्यत ॥

tam mrityuh yatha matsyam udake paripashyed evam paryapashyad richi yajushi samani | te jñatvordhva richo yajushmat samno'timuchyata ||

Death saw them there, just as one might see a fish in water — in the Rik, Yajus, and Sama. They, knowing this, rose above the Rik, above the Yajus, above the Sama.

मृत्यु ने उन्हें वैसे ही देखा जैसे जल में मछली को देखता है — ऋक् में, यजुस् में, साम में। यह जानकर वे ऋक् से ऊपर उठे, यजुस् से ऊपर, साम से ऊपर।
