Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.12

वाचं ह देवा अभ्यवदन् — त्वं न उद्गायेति । तथेति तेभ्यो वागुदगायत् — यो वाचि भोगस्तं देवेभ्य आगायत् यत्कल्याणं वदति तदात्मने ॥

vacham ha deva abhyavadan — tvam na udgayeti | tatheti tebhyo vag udagayat | yo vachi bhogas tam devebhya agayat yat kalyanam vadati tad atmane ||

The gods said to Speech: 'Chant the Udgitha for us.' 'So be it,' said Speech, and chanted for them. Whatever enjoyment is in speech, she obtained for the gods by chanting; whatever good she speaks, she obtained for herself.

देवताओं ने वाक् से कहा: 'हमारे लिए उद्गान करो।' 'ठीक है' कहकर वाक् ने उनके लिए उद्गान किया। वाक् में जो भी भोग था, देवताओं के लिए गाया; जो कल्याण वाक् बोलती है, वह अपने लिए।
