Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.14

अथ ह चक्षुरभ्यवदन् — त्वं न उद्गायेति । तथेति तेभ्यश्चक्षुरुदगायत् — यश्चक्षुषि भोगस्तं देवेभ्य आगायत् यत्कल्याणं पश्यति तदात्मने ॥

atha ha chakshur abhyavadan — tvam na udgayeti | tatheti tebhyash chakshur udagayat | yash chakshushi bhogas tam devebhya agayat yat kalyanam pashyati tad atmane ||

Then the gods said to the Eye: 'Chant the Udgitha for us.' 'So be it,' said the Eye, and chanted for them. Whatever enjoyment is in the eye, it obtained for the gods; whatever good it sees, it obtained for itself.

तब देवताओं ने चक्षु से कहा: 'हमारे लिए उद्गान करो।' 'ठीक है' कहकर चक्षु ने उद्गान किया। चक्षु में जो भोग था, देवताओं के लिए गाया; जो कल्याण चक्षु देखता है, वह अपने लिए।
