Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 2.27

तस्य हैतस्य रूपं यथा माहारजनं वासो यथा पाण्ड्वाविकं यथेन्द्रगोपो यथाग्न्यर्चिः यथा पुण्डरीकं यथा सकृद्विद्युत्तम् | सकृद्विद्युत्तेव ह वा अस्य श्रीर्भवति य एवं वेद | अथात आदेशो नेति नेतीति | न ह्येतस्मादिति नेत्यन्यत्परमस्ति | अथ नामधेयं सत्यस्य सत्यमिति | प्राणा वै सत्यं तेषामेष सत्यम् ॥

tasya haitasya rupam yatha maharajanam vaso yatha pandvavikam yathendragopo yathagnyarchih yatha pundariikam yatha sakrid-vidyuttam | sakrid-vidyutteva ha va asya shrir bhavati ya evam veda | athata adesho neti netiti | na hyetasmad iti nety anyat param asti | atha namadheyam satyasya satyam iti | prana vai satyam tesham esha satyam ||

Its form is like a saffron-coloured robe, like white wool, like a red insect, like a flame of fire, like a white lotus, like a sudden flash of lightning. He who knows this — his glory is like a sudden flash of lightning. Now therefore the description: 'not this, not this' (neti neti). For there is nothing higher than this, that he is 'not this.' Its name is 'the Truth of truth.' The vital breaths are truth, and this Self is the truth of them.

उसका रूप है — जैसे केसरिया वस्त्र, जैसे श्वेत ऊन, जैसे इन्द्रगोप (लाल कीट), जैसे अग्नि की लपट, जैसे श्वेत कमल, जैसे सहसा चमकती बिजली। जो इस प्रकार जानता है — उसकी श्री (महिमा) सहसा चमकती बिजली जैसी होती है। अब यह आदेश है: नेति नेति। इससे परे और कुछ भी नहीं जो 'नेति' न हो। उसका नाम है — 'सत्यस्य सत्यम्।' प्राण सत्य है, वह प्राणों का सत्य है।
