Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 3.47

यो रेतसि तिष्ठन्रेतसोऽन्तरो यं रेतो न वेद यस्य रेतः शरीरं यो रेतोऽन्तरो यमयत्येष त आत्मान्तर्याम्यमृतः | एष सर्वभूतान्तरात्मापहतपाप्मा दिव्यो देव एको नारायणः | अदृष्टो द्रष्टा | अश्रुतः श्रोता | अमतो मन्ता | अविज्ञातो विज्ञाता | नान्योऽतोऽस्ति द्रष्टा | नान्योऽतोऽस्ति श्रोता | नान्योऽतोऽस्ति मन्ता | नान्योऽतोऽस्ति विज्ञाता | एष त आत्मान्तर्याम्यमृतः | अतो अन्यदार्तम् | ततो होद्दालकोऽरुणिरुपरराम ॥

yo retasi tishthan retaso'ntaro yam reto na veda yasya retah shariram yo reto'ntaro yamayaty esha ta atma antaryamy amritah | esha sarvabhutantaratmaapahatapapma divyo deva eko narayanah | adrishtho drashta | ashrutah shrota | amato manta | avijnato vijnata | nanyo'to'sti drashta | nanyo'to'sti shrota | nanyo'to'sti manta | nanyo'to'sti vijnata | esha ta atma antaryamy amritah | ato anyad aartam | tato hoddalako'runir upararama ||

'He who dwells in the seed, yet is within the seed, whom the seed does not know, whose body the seed is, who controls the seed from within — he is your Self, the Inner Controller, the immortal. He is the inner Self of all beings, free from evil, the divine, the one God, Narayana. He is the unseen seer, the unheard hearer, the unthought thinker, the unknown knower. There is no other seer but he. There is no other hearer but he. There is no other thinker but he. There is no other knower but he. This is your Self, the Inner Controller, the immortal. Everything other than this is afflicted.' Thereupon Uddalaka, the son of Aruna, held his peace.

'जो रेतस् (बीज) में रहता है, बीज के भीतर है, जिसे बीज नहीं जानता, जिसका शरीर बीज है, जो बीज को भीतर से नियन्त्रित करता है — वही तेरा आत्मा, अन्तर्यामी, अमृत है। यही सब प्राणियों का अन्तरात्मा है, अपहत-पाप्मा है, दिव्य है, एक है, नारायण है। वह अदृष्ट द्रष्टा है, अश्रुत श्रोता है, अमत मन्ता है, अविज्ञात विज्ञाता है। उससे भिन्न और कोई द्रष्टा नहीं, और कोई श्रोता नहीं, और कोई मन्ता नहीं, और कोई विज्ञाता नहीं। यही तेरा आत्मा, अन्तर्यामी, अमृत है। इससे भिन्न जो कुछ है, वह आर्त है।' इसके बाद आरुणि उद्दालक चुप हो गए।
