Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.24

तस्य वा एतस्य पुरुषस्य द्वे एव स्थाने भवतः इदं च परलोकस्थानं च सन्ध्यं तृतीयं स्वप्नस्थानम् तस्मिन्सन्ध्ये स्थाने तिष्ठन्नेते उभे स्थाने पश्यति इदं च परलोकस्थानं च ॥

tasya vaa etasya purushasya dve eva sthaane bhavatah idam cha paralokasthaanam cha sandhyam tritiiyam svapnasthaanam tasmin sandhye sthaane tishthan nete ubhe sthaane pashyati idam cha paralokasthaanam cha

This person has only two states — this world and the other world. The third, the junction state, is the dream state. Standing in this junction, he sees both states — this world and the other world.

इस पुरुष के दो ही स्थान हैं — यह (इहलोक) और परलोक-स्थान। और एक तीसरा सन्ध्य-स्थान — स्वप्न-स्थान है। उस सन्ध्य-स्थान में स्थित होकर वह दोनों स्थानों को देखता है — इहलोक और परलोक।
