Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.34

स यदायमात्मा अबल्यं न्येति संमोहमिव न्येति अथैनं प्राणाः समायन्ति स एतास्तेजो मात्राः समभ्यादधानो हृदयमेवान्ववक्रामति स यदैष चाक्षुषः पुरुषः पराचीनं उपनिवर्तते अथारूपज्ञो भवति ॥

sa yadaayam aatmaa abalyam nyeti sammoham iva nyeti athainam praanaah samaayanti sa etaas tejo maatraah samabhyaadaddhaano hridayam evaanvavakraamati sa yadaisha chaakshusah purushah paraachiinam upanivartate athaaruupajno bhavati

When this Self comes to weakness and, as it were, to confusion, the vital breaths gather around it. Taking these particles of light, it descends into the heart. When the person in the eye turns away, then he becomes non-cognizant of forms.

जब यह आत्मा अबलता को प्राप्त होकर मानो सम्मोह में लीन होने लगता है, तब प्राण उसके चारों ओर आ जाते हैं। वह इन तेज-मात्राओं को समेटकर हृदय में ही उतर आता है। और जब यह चाक्षुष पुरुष पीछे की ओर निवृत्त होता है, तब वह रूपों का ज्ञान खो देता है।
