Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.35

एकीभवतीति आहुः न पश्यतीति आहुः न जिघ्रतीति आहुः न रसयत इति आहुः न वदतीति आहुः न शृणोतीति आहुः न मनुत इति आहुः न स्पृशतीति आहुः न विजानातीति आहुः तस्य हैतस्य हृदयस्याग्रं प्रद्योतते तेन प्रद्योतेनैष आत्मा निष्क्रामति चक्षुष्टो वा मूर्ध्नो वान्यतो वा शरीरदेशेभ्यः ॥

ekiibhavatiti aahuh na pashyatiiti aahuh na jighratiti aahuh na rasayata iti aahuh na vadatiiti aahuh na shrinotiiti aahuh na manuta iti aahuh na sprishatiti aahuh na vijaanaatiiti aahuh tasya haitasya hridayasyaagram pradyotate tena pradyotenaisha aatmaa nishkraamati chakshushto vaa muurdno vaanyato vaa shariiradesebhyah

'He is becoming one,' they say; 'he does not see,' they say; 'he does not smell,' they say; 'he does not taste,' they say; 'he does not speak,' they say; 'he does not hear,' they say; 'he does not think,' they say; 'he does not touch,' they say; 'he does not know,' they say. The tip of the heart lights up, and by that light the Self departs — either through the eye, or through the head, or through other parts of the body.

लोग कहने लगते हैं — 'वह एकीभूत हो रहा है,' 'वह नहीं देखता,' 'वह नहीं सूँघता,' 'वह नहीं चखता,' 'वह नहीं बोलता,' 'वह नहीं सुनता,' 'वह नहीं मनन करता,' 'वह नहीं छूता,' 'वह नहीं जानता।' तब उस हृदय का अग्र-भाग प्रकाशित होता है, और उस प्रकाश से यह आत्मा निकलता है — चक्षु से, या मूर्धा से, या शरीर के अन्य भागों से।
