Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.37

तद्यथा तृणजलायुका तृणस्यान्तं गत्वान्यमाक्रममाक्रम्यात्मानमुपसंहरति एवमेवायमात्मा इदं शरीरं निहत्याविद्यां गमयित्वान्यमाक्रममाक्रम्यात्मानमुपसंहरति ॥

tad yathaa trinajalayukaa trinasyaantam gatvaa anyam aakramam aakramyaatmaanam upasamharati evam evaayam aatmaa idam shariiram nihatyaavidyaam gamayitvaa anyam aakramam aakramyaatmaanam upasamharati

Just as a leech (caterpillar), having reached the tip of a blade of grass, draws itself together toward another support and contracts itself, even so does this Self, having cast off this body and dispelled ignorance, draw itself together toward another support and contract itself.

जैसे तृणजलायुका (कीट, इल्ली) तृण के अग्र पर पहुँचकर, दूसरे आधार को पकड़कर, अपने आप को सिकोड़ लेती है — वैसे ही यह आत्मा इस शरीर को छोड़कर, अविद्या को विदा करके, दूसरे आधार को पकड़कर, अपने को समेट लेता है।
