Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.42

इति नु कामयमानस्य अथाकामयमानः यो अकामो निष्काम आप्तकाम आत्मकामो न तस्य प्राणा उत्क्रामन्ति ब्रह्मैव सन्ब्रह्माप्येति ॥

iti nu kaamayamaanasya athaakaamayamaanah yo akaamo nishkaama aaptakaama aatmakaamo na tasya praanaa utkraamanti brahmaiva san brahmaapyeti

Thus it is for one who has desires. But as for the one who is without desires — who is free from desires, whose desires are fulfilled, whose only desire is the Self — his vital breaths do not depart. Being Brahman itself, he merges in Brahman.

यह तो कामनाशील की बात हुई। अब अकामनाशील — जो अकाम है, निष्काम है, आप्तकाम है, आत्मकाम है — उसके प्राण उत्क्रमण नहीं करते; वह ब्रह्म-स्वरूप ही होकर ब्रह्म में लीन हो जाता है।
