Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.50

स वा एष महानज आत्मा योऽयं विज्ञानमयः प्राणेषु स एषोऽन्तर्हृदय आकाशः तस्मिन्नेतस्मिन्सर्वस्य ईशानः सर्वस्याधिपतिः सर्वस्य प्रशासिता न साधुना कर्मणा भूयान्नो एवासाधुना कनीयान् एष सर्वेश्वरः एष भूताधिपतिः एष भूतपालः ॥

sa vaa esha mahaan aja aatmaa yo'yam vijnanamayah praaneshuh sa esho'ntarhridaya aakaashah tasminn etasmin sarvasya ishaanah sarvasya adhipatih sarvasya prashaasitaa na saadhunaa karmanaa bhuuyaan no eva asaadhunaa kaniiyaan esha sarveshvarah esha bhuutaadhipatih esha bhuutapaalah

This is the great, unborn Self, who is made of knowledge and is among the vital breaths. In this space within the heart lies the ruler of all, the lord of all, the governor of all. He does not become greater by good deeds nor smaller by evil deeds. He is the lord of all, the overlord of beings, the protector of beings.

यह जो महान् अज (अजन्मा) आत्मा है — जो विज्ञानमय है, प्राणों के बीच रहता है — वह यह हृदय के भीतर का आकाश है। उसी में स्थित होकर वह सबका ईशान है, सबका अधिपति है, सबका प्रशासक है। साधु-कर्म से वह बड़ा नहीं होता, असाधु-कर्म से छोटा नहीं होता। वह सर्वेश्वर है, भूताधिपति है, भूतपाल है।
