Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.64

न वा अरे पुत्राणां कामाय पुत्राः प्रिया भवन्ति आत्मनस्तु कामाय पुत्राः प्रिया भवन्ति न वा अरे वित्तस्य कामाय वित्तं प्रियं भवति आत्मनस्तु कामाय वित्तं प्रियं भवति ॥

na vaa are putraanaam kaamaaya putraah priyaa bhavanti aatmanastu kaamaaya putraah priyaa bhavanti na vaa are vittasya kaamaaya vittam priyam bhavati aatmanastu kaamaaya vittam priyam bhavati

'Not for the sake of the sons, my dear, are the sons loved, but for the sake of the Self are the sons loved. Not for the sake of wealth is wealth loved, but for the sake of the Self is wealth loved.'

'न पुत्रों के लिए पुत्र प्रिय होते हैं — आत्मा के लिए ही पुत्र प्रिय होते हैं। न धन के लिए धन प्रिय होता है — आत्मा के लिए ही धन प्रिय होता है।'
