Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.66

न वा अरे देवानां कामाय देवाः प्रिया भवन्ति आत्मनस्तु कामाय देवाः प्रिया भवन्ति न वा अरे भूतानां कामाय भूतानि प्रियाणि भवन्ति आत्मनस्तु कामाय भूतानि प्रियाणि भवन्ति न वा अरे सर्वस्य कामाय सर्वं प्रियं भवति आत्मनस्तु कामाय सर्वं प्रियं भवति ॥

na vaa are devaanaam kaamaaya devaah priyaa bhavanti aatmanastu kaamaaya devaah priyaa bhavanti na vaa are bhuutaanaam kaamaaya bhuutani priyaani bhavanti aatmanastu kaamaaya bhuutani priyaani bhavanti na vaa are sarvasya kaamaaya sarvam priyam bhavati aatmanastu kaamaaya sarvam priyam bhavati

'Not for the sake of the gods are the gods loved, but for the sake of the Self are the gods loved. Not for the sake of the beings are the beings loved, but for the sake of the Self are the beings loved. Not for the sake of all is all loved, but for the sake of the Self is all loved.'

'न देवों के लिए देव प्रिय होते हैं — आत्मा के लिए ही। न प्राणियों के लिए प्राणी प्रिय होते हैं — आत्मा के लिए ही। न सबके लिए 'सब' प्रिय होता है — आत्मा के लिए ही 'सब' प्रिय होता है।'
