Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.21

असौ वाव लोकोऽग्निर्गौतम; तस्यादित्य एव समिद्, रश्मयो धूमः, अहरर्चिः, चन्द्रमा अङ्गारा, नक्शत्राणि विस्फुलिङ्गाः; तस्मिन्नेतस्मिन्नग्नौ देवाः श्रद्धां जुह्वति; तस्या आहुतेः सोमो राजा सम्भवति ॥

asau vaava loko'gnirgautama; tasyaaditya eva samid, rashmayo dhuumah, ahararchiih, chandramaa angaaraah, nakshatraani visphullingaah; tasminneastaminnagnau devaah shraddhaam juhvati; tasyaa aahuteh somo raajaa sambhavati

The first fire is the heavenly world, O Gautama. The sun is its fuel, the rays its smoke, the day its flame, the moon its embers, and the stars its sparks. In this fire the gods offer faith as an oblation. From that offering, King Soma (the moon, the celestial food) arises.

हे गौतम! यह असौ लोक (द्युलोक) ही अग्नि है। आदित्य उसकी समिधा है, रश्मियाँ धूम, दिन ज्वाला, चन्द्रमा अंगार, और नक्षत्र विस्फुलिङ्ग (चिनगारियाँ) हैं। उस अग्नि में देव श्रद्धा की आहुति देते हैं। उस आहुति से सोम राजा (चन्द्रमा) उत्पन्न होता है।
