Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.57

अथ य इच्छेत् पुत्रो मे पण्डितो विगीत आहितग्निः समितिंगमः शुश्रूषितां वाचं भाषिता जायेत — सर्वान् वेदानधीयीतेति — स पायसौदनं पाचयित्वा सर्पिष्मन्तमश्नीयाताम्; ईश्वरौ जनयितवै ॥

atha ya ichchhet putro me panditaam vigiita aahitagnih samitimgamah shushruushitaam vaacham bhaashitaa jaayeta — sarvaan vedaannadhiiyiiteti — sa paayasaudanam paachayitvaa sarpishsmantamashniiyaataam; iishvarau janayitavai

If one desires, 'May a learned son be born to me, famous, a maintainer of sacred fires, an attendant of assemblies, a speaker of delightful words, one who has mastered all the Vedas' — the couple should eat rice cooked with milk and ghee. They will be able to produce such a son.

यदि कोई इच्छा करे — ‘मेरा पुत्र पण्डित, यशस्वी, आहित-अग्नि (अग्निहोत्री), सभा-गामी, सुनी जाने वाली वाणी का भाषक हो, और सम्पूर्ण वेदों का अध्ययन करे’ — तो दम्पत्ति पायस-ओदन (दूध-चावल) पका कर घृत-सहित खाएँ; वे ऐसा पुत्र उत्पन्न करने में समर्थ होंगे।
