Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.70

अथास्य नाम करोति — वेदोऽसि इति; तद्गुह्यमेव तद्भवति; अथास्य पिता मातरि पुत्रमादाय — कर्णे जपति — वागिति ॥

athaasya naama karoti — vedo'si iti; tadguhyameva tadbhavati; athaasya pitaa maatari putramadaaya — karne japati — vaagiti

Then he gives the child a name: 'You are the Veda.' This becomes its secret name. Then the father, taking the son to the mother, whispers in his ear: 'Speech!'

तब उसका नाम-करण करता है — ‘तू वेद है।’ यह उसका गुप्त नाम होता है। फिर उसका पिता उसे माता के पास ले जाकर कान में जप करता है — ‘वाणी!’
