Chandogya Upanishad 1.1

ओमित्येतदक्षरमुद्गीथमुपासीत । ओमिति ह्युद्गायति तस्योपव्याख्यानम् ॥ १ ॥

1.1.1 — omityetadaksharamudgithamupasita | omiti hyudgayati tasyopavyakhyanam || 1 ||

Let a man meditate on the syllable Om, called the udgîtha; for the udgîtha (a portion of the Sâma-veda) is sung, beginning with Om.

ओम् — इस अक्षर को उद्गीथ के रूप में उपासना करें; क्योंकि ओम कहकर ही उद्गान किया जाता है। यही इसकी व्याख्या है।
