Chandogya Upanishad 1.11

देवासुरा ह वै यत्र संयेतिरे उभये प्राजापत्यास्तद्ध देवा उद्गीथमाजह्रुरनेनैनानभिभविष्याम इति ॥ १ ॥

1.2.1 — devasura ha vai yatra samyetire ubhaye prajapatyastaddha deva udgithamajahruranenainanabhibhavishyama iti || 1 ||

Whent he Devas and Asuras struggled together, both of the race of Pragâpati, the Devas took the udgîtha (Om), thinking they would vanquish the Asuras with it.

प्रजापति से उत्पन्न देव और असुर जब परस्पर संघर्ष में उतरे, तब देवों ने सोचा — 'इस उद्गीथ से हम इन्हें पराजित करेंगे' और उद्गीथ को ग्रहण किया।
