Chandogya Upanishad 1.2

एषा भूतानां पृथिवी रसः पृथिव्या अपो रसः अपामोषधयो रस ओषधीनां पुरुषो रसः पुरुषस्य वाग्रसो वाच ऋग्रस ऋचः साम रसः साम्न उद्गीथो रसः ॥ २ ॥

1.1.2 — esha bhutanam prithivi rasah prithivya apo rasah apamoshadhayo rasa oshadhinam purusho rasah purushasya vagraso vacha rigrasa richah sama rasah samna udgitho rasah || 2 ||

The essence of all beings is the earth, the essence of the earth is water, the essence of water ​the plants, the essence of plants man, the essence of man speech, the essence of speech the Rig-veda, the essence of the Rig-veda the Sâma-veda, the essence of the Sâma-veda the udgîtha (which is Om).

इन समस्त भूतों का रस पृथ्वी है, पृथ्वी का रस जल है, जल का रस औषधियाँ हैं, औषधियों का रस पुरुष है, पुरुष का रस वाक् है, वाक् का रस ऋक् है, ऋक् का रस साम है, और साम का रस उद्गीथ है।
