Chandogya Upanishad 1.30

द्यौरेवोदन्तरिक्षं गीः पृथिवी थमादित्य एवोद्वायुर्गीरग्निस्थꣳ सामवेद एवोद्यजुर्वेदो गीर्ऋग्वेदस्थं दुग्धेऽस्मै वाग्दोहं यो वाचो दोहोऽन्नवानन्नादो भवति य एतान्येवं विद्वानुद्गीथाक्षराण्युपास्त उद्गीथ इति ॥ ७ ॥

1.3.7 — dyaurevodantariksham gih prithivi thamaditya evodvayurgiragnistham samaveda evodyajurvedo girrigvedastham dugdhe'smai vagdoham yo vacho doho'nnavanannado bhavati ya etanyevam vidvanudgithaksharanyupasta udgitha iti || 7 ||

Ut is heaven, gî the sky, tha the earth. Ut is the sun, gî the air, tha the fire. Ut is the Sâma-veda, gî the Yagur-veda, tha the Rig-veda. ​Speech yields the milk, which is the milk of speech itself, to him who thus knowing meditates on those ​syllables of the name of udgîtha, he becomes rich in food and able to eat food.

'उत्' द्युलोक है, 'गी' अन्तरिक्ष है, 'थ' पृथ्वी है। 'उत्' आदित्य है, 'गी' वायु है, 'थ' अग्नि है। 'उत्' सामवेद है, 'गी' यजुर्वेद है, 'थ' ऋग्वेद है। जो इन उद्गीथ-अक्षरों की ऐसी उपासना करता है, उसके लिए वाक् अपना दोहन देती है — वह अन्नवान् और अन्नाद (अन्न पाने और खाने में समर्थ) हो जाता है।
