Chandogya Upanishad 1.77

एतेषां मे देहीति होवाच तानस्मै प्रददौ हन्तानुपानमित्युच्छिष्टं वै मे पीतꣳ स्यादिति होवाच ॥ ३ ॥

1.10.3 — etesham me dehiti hovacha tanasmai pradadau hantanupanamityuchchhishtam vai me pitam syaditi hovacha || 3 ||

Ushasti said: 'Give me to eat of them.' He gave him the beans, and said: 'There is something to drink also.' Then said Ushasti: 'If I drank of it, I should have drunk what was left by another, and is therefore unclean.'

'तो ये ही मुझे दे दो' — उषस्ति ने कहा। उसने वे कुल्माष उन्हें दे दिए। 'पीने को कुछ लो' — कहने पर उषस्ति बोले — 'यह तो उच्छिष्ट (जूठा) जल होगा — मैं पी लूँगा तो उच्छिष्ट पी लिया होगा।'
