Chandogya Upanishad 2.27

अथ यदूर्ध्वमपराह्णात्प्रागस्तमयात्स उपद्रवस्तदस्यारण्या अन्वायत्तास्तस्मात्ते पुरुषं दृष्ट्वा कक्षꣳ श्वभ्रमित्युपद्रवन्त्युपद्रवभाजिनो ह्येतस्य साम्नः ॥ ७ ॥

2.9.7 — atha yadurdhvamaparahnatpragastamayatsa upadravastadasyaranya anvayattastasmatte purusham drishtva kaksham shvabhramityupadravantyupadravabhajino hyetasya samnah || 7 ||

What he is after the afternoon and before sunset, that is the upadrava. On it the animals of the forest are dependent. Therefore, when they see a man, they run (upadravanti) to the forest as a safe hiding-place, for they share the upadrava of that Sâman.

अब अपराह्न के बाद और अस्त से पूर्व का जो रूप है, वह उपद्रव है; उस पर वन्य पशु अनुवर्ती हैं — इसीलिए वे मनुष्य को देखकर झाड़ी या गड्ढे की ओर 'उपद्रवित' होकर (दौड़कर) भागते हैं; वे इस साम के उपद्रवभाजी हैं।
