Chandogya Upanishad 2.33

एकविꣳशत्यादित्यमाप्नोत्येकविꣳशो वा इतोऽसावादित्यो द्वाविꣳशेन परमादित्याज्जयति तन्नाकं तद्विशोकम् ॥ ५ ॥

2.10.5 — ekavimshatyadityamapnotyekavimsho va ito'savadityo dvavimshena paramadityajjayati tannakam tadvishokam || 5 ||

With twenty-one syllables a man reaches the sun (and death), for the sun is the twenty-first from here; with the twenty-second he conquers what is beyond the sun: that is blessedness, that is freedom from grief.

इक्कीस अक्षरों से साधक आदित्य तक पहुँचता है — क्योंकि यह आदित्य यहाँ से इक्कीसवाँ है; और बाईसवें अक्षर से वह आदित्य से भी परे को जीत लेता है — वही नाक है, वही विशोक (शोक-रहित) है।
