Chandogya Upanishad 3.11

अथ येऽस्योदञ्चो रश्मयस्ता एवास्योदीच्यो मधुनाड्योऽथर्वाङ्गिरस एव मधुकृत इतिहासपुराणं पुष्पं ता अमृता आपः ॥ १ ॥

3.4.1 — atha ye'syodancho rashmayasta evasyodichyo madhunadyo'tharvangirasa eva madhukrita itihasapuranam pushpam ta amrita aapah || 1 ||

So its northern rays are its northern honey-cells. The bees are the [Hymns] of the Atharvans and Angirases l The flower is Legend and Ancient Lore (ttzhasa-purana). The drops of nectar fluid [arose as follows].

अब जो इसकी उत्तर दिशा की किरणें हैं, वे ही इसकी उत्तर मधुनाड़ियाँ हैं; अथर्वाङ्गिरस-मन्त्र ही उनकी मधुमक्खियाँ हैं, इतिहास-पुराण पुष्प है, और यज्ञ के जल अमृत रस हैं।
