Chandogya Upanishad 3.2

तस्य ये प्राञ्चो रश्मयस्ता एवास्य प्राच्यो मधुनाड्यः । ऋच एव मधुकृत ऋग्वेद एव पुष्पं ता अमृता आपस्ता वा एता ऋचः ॥ २ ॥

3.1.2 — tasya ye prancho rashmayasta evasya prachyo madhunadyah | richa eva madhukrita rigveda eva pushpam ta amrita aapasta va eta richah || 2 ||

The eastern rays of the sun are the honey-cells in front. The Rik verses are the bees, the Rig-veda (sacrifice) is the flower, the water (of the sacrificial libations) is the nectar (of the flower).

उसकी जो पूर्व दिशा की किरणें हैं, वे ही उसकी पूर्व की मधुनाड़ियाँ हैं; ऋचाएँ ही उनकी मधुमक्खियाँ हैं, ऋग्वेदरूपी यज्ञ ही पुष्प है, और यज्ञ के जल ही वे अमृत रस हैं।
