Chandogya Upanishad 3.48

तावानस्य महिमा ततो ज्यायाꣳश्च पूरुषः । पादोऽस्य सर्वा भूतानि त्रिपादस्यामृतं दिवीति ॥ ६ ॥

3.12.6 — tavanasya mahima tato jyayamshcha purushah | pado'sya sarva bhutani tripadasyamritam diviti || 6 ||

'Such is the greatness of it (of Brahman, under the disguise of Gâyatrî); greater than it is the Person (purusha). His feet are all things. The immortal with three feet is in heaven (i.e. in himself).' 7. The Brahman which has been thus described (as immortal with three feet in heaven, and as Gâyatrî) is the same as the ether which is around us;

'इतनी (चार-पाद-रूप) इसकी महिमा है, तथा इस पुरुष इससे भी अधिक है। इसका एक पाद समस्त भूत हैं; इसके तीन पाद अमृत-रूप में द्युलोक में हैं।'
