Chandogya Upanishad 3.58

तस्यैषा दृष्टिर्यत्रितदस्मिञ्छरीरे सꣳस्पर्शेनोष्णिमानं विजानाति तस्यैषा श्रुतिर्यत्रैतत्कर्णावपिगृह्य निनदमिव नदथुरिवाग्नेरिव ज्वलत उपशृणोति तदेतद्दृष्टं च श्रुतं चेत्युपासीत चक्षुष्यः श्रुतो भवति य एवं वेद य एवं वेद ॥ ८ ॥

3.13.8 — tasyaisha drishtiryatritadasminchharire samsparshenoshnimanam vijanati tasyaisha shrutiryatraitatkarnavapigrihya ninadamiva nadathurivagneriva jvalata upashrinoti tadetaddrishtam cha shrutam chetyupasita chakshushyah shruto bhavati ya evam veda ya evam veda || 8 ||

Namely, when we thus perceive by touch the warmth here in the body. And of it we have this audible proof: Namely, when we thus, after stopping our ears, listen to what is like the rolling of a carriage, or the bellowing of an ox, or the sound of a burning fire (within the ears). Let a man meditate on this as the (Brahman) which is seen and heard. ​He who knows this, becomes conspicuous and celebrated, yea, he becomes celebrated.

उसका यह प्रत्यक्ष दर्शन है — जब इस शरीर में स्पर्श द्वारा उष्णता का अनुभव होता है; और उसका यह श्रवण है — जब कान बन्द कर लेने पर रथ की घरघराहट-सी, बैल की गर्जना-सी, अथवा प्रज्वलित अग्नि-सी ध्वनि सुनाई देती है। इसे ही 'दृष्ट-और-श्रुत' ब्रह्म के रूप में उपासना करे। जो ऐसा जानता है वह दर्शनीय तथा विख्यात होता है — जो ऐसा जानता है।
