Chandogya Upanishad 3.8

अथ येऽस्य प्रत्यञ्चो रश्मयस्ता एवास्य प्रतीच्यो मधुनाड्यः सामान्येव मधुकृतः सामवेद एव पुष्पं ता अमृता आपः ॥ १ ॥

3.3.1 — atha ye'sya pratyancho rashmayasta evasya pratichyo madhunadyah samanyeva madhukritah samaveda eva pushpam ta amrita aapah || 1 ||

The western rays of the sun are the honey-cells behind. The Sâman verses are the bees, the Sâma-veda sacrifice is the flower, the water is the nectar.

अब जो इसकी पश्चिम दिशा की किरणें हैं, वे ही इसकी पश्चिम मधुनाड़ियाँ हैं; सामन् ही उनकी मधुमक्खियाँ हैं, सामवेद-यज्ञ पुष्प है, और यज्ञ के जल अमृत रस हैं।
