Chandogya Upanishad 4.70

प्रजापतिर्लोकानभ्यतपत्तेषां तप्यमानानाꣳरसान्प्रावृहदग्निं पृथिव्या वायुमन्तरिक्षातादित्यं दिवः ॥ १ ॥

4.17.1 — prajapatirlokanabhyatapattesham tapyamananamrasanpravrihadagnim prithivya vayumantarikshatadityam divah || 1 ||

Pragâpati brooded over the worlds, and from them thus brooded on he squeezed out the essences, Agni (fire) from the earth, Vâyu (air) from the sky, Âditya (the sun) from heaven.

प्रजापति ने लोकों पर तप किया; इस प्रकार अभितप्त लोकों से उसने उनके रसों को निकाल लिया — पृथ्वी से अग्नि, अन्तरिक्ष से वायु, द्युलोक से आदित्य।
