Chandogya Upanishad 5.1

५.१ यो ह वै ज्येष्ठं च श्रेष्ठं च वेद ज्येष्ठश्च ह वै श्रेष्ठश्च भवति प्राणो वाव ज्येष्ठश्च श्रेष्ठश्च ॥ १ ॥

5.1.1 — 5.1 yo ha vai jyeshtham cha shreshtham cha veda jyeshthashcha ha vai shreshthashcha bhavati prano vava jyeshthashcha shreshthashcha || 1 ||

He who knows the oldest and the best becomes himself the oldest and the best. Breath indeed is the oldest and the best.

जो मनुष्य ज्येष्ठ तथा श्रेष्ठ को जानता है, वह स्वयं भी ज्येष्ठ एवं श्रेष्ठ हो जाता है। प्राण ही निश्चय ज्येष्ठ और श्रेष्ठ है।
