Chandogya Upanishad 5.12

अथ ह प्राण उच्चिक्रमिषन्स यथा सुहयः पड्वीशशङ्कून्संखिदेदेवमितरान्प्राणान्समखिदत्तँहाभिसमेत्योचुर्भगवन्नेधि त्वं नः श्रेष्ठोऽसि मोत्क्रमीरिति ॥ १२ ॥

5.1.12 — atha ha prana uchchikramishansa yatha suhayah padvishashankunsamkhidedevamitaranpranansamakhidattanhabhisametyochurbhagavannedhi tvam nah shreshtho'si motkramiriti || 12 ||

The breath, when on the point of departing, tore up the other senses, as a horse, going to start, ​might tear up the pegs to which he is tethered. They came to him and said: 'Sir, be thou (our lord); thou art the best among us. Do not depart from us!'

तदनन्तर जब मुख्य प्राण उत्क्रमण की इच्छा से उठा, तब जैसे उत्तम घोड़ा प्रस्थान करते समय अपने खूँटे उखाड़ डाले, वैसे ही उसने अन्य प्राणों को उखाड़ दिया। वे प्राण उसके समीप आकर बोले — 'भगवन्, आप ही प्रभु हों; आप हममें श्रेष्ठ हैं; आप उत्क्रमण न करें।'
