Chandogya Upanishad 5.38

५.७ पुरुषो वाव गौतमाग्निस्तस्य वागेव समित्प्राणो धूमो जिह्वार्चिश्चक्षुरङ्गाराः श्रोत्रं विस्फुलिङ्गाः ॥ १ ॥

5.7.1 — 5.7 purusho vava gautamagnistasya vageva samitprano dhumo jihvarchishchakshurangarah shrotram visphulingah || 1 ||

'The altar is man, O Gautama; its fuel speech itself, the smoke the breath, the light the tongue, the coals the eye, the sparks the ear.

'हे गौतम, पुरुष ही अग्नि है। उसकी वाक् ही समिधा, प्राण धूम, जिह्वा अर्चि, चक्षु अंगार, श्रोत्र विस्फुलिंग हैं।'
