Chandogya Upanishad 5.42

५.९ इति तु पञ्चम्यामाहुतावापः पुरुषवचसो भवन्तीति स उल्बावृतो गर्भो दश वा नव वा मासानन्तः शयित्वा यावद्वाथ जायते ॥ १ ॥

5.9.1 — 5.9 iti tu panchamyamahutavapah purushavachaso bhavantiti sa ulbavrito garbho dasha va nava va masanantah shayitva yavadvatha jayate || 1 ||

'For this reason is water in the fifth oblation called Man. This germ, covered in the womb, having dwelt there ten months, or more or less, is born.

'इस प्रकार पाँचवीं आहुति में आपः पुरुष-नाम वाले हो जाते हैं। वह उल्ब से आवृत गर्भ दस या नौ या जितने भी महीने गर्भ में रहकर जन्म लेता है।'
