Chandogya Upanishad 5.85

५.२४ स य इदमविद्वाग्निहोत्रं जुहोति यथाङ्गारानपोह्य भस्मनि जुहुयात्तादृक्तत्स्यात् ॥ १ ॥

5.24.1 — 5.24 sa ya idamavidvagnihotram juhoti yathangaranapohya bhasmani juhuyattadriktatsyat || 1 ||

'If, without knowing this, one offers an Agnihotra, it would be as if a man were to remove the live coals and pour his libation on dead ashes.

'जो बिना यह जाने अग्निहोत्र करता है, वह मानो अंगारों को हटाकर भस्म में आहुति डालता है — उसका कर्म वैसा ही होता है।'
