Chandogya Upanishad 5.87

तद्यथेषीकातूलमग्नौ प्रोतं प्रदूयेतैवँहास्य सर्वे पाप्मानः प्रदूयन्ते य एतदेवं विद्वानग्निहोत्रं जुहोति ॥ ३ ॥

5.24.3 — tadyatheshikatulamagnau protam praduyetaivanhasya sarve papmanah praduyante ya etadevam vidvanagnihotram juhoti || 3 ||

'As the soft fibres of the Ishîkâ reed, when thrown into the fire, are burnt, thus all his sins are burnt whoever offers this Agnihotra with a full knowledge of its true purport.

'जैसे अग्नि में डाला हुआ ईषीका-तूल जल जाता है — वैसे ही इस प्रकार जानने वाले अग्निहोत्र करने वाले के सभी पाप जल जाते हैं।'
