Chandogya Upanishad 6.14

तासां त्रिवृतं त्रिवृतमेकैकां करवाणीति सेयं देवतेमास्तिस्रो देवता अनेनैव जीवेनात्मनानुप्रविश्य नामरूपे व्याकरोत् ॥ ३ ॥

6.3.3 — tasam trivritam trivritamekaikam karavaniti seyam devatemastisro devata anenaiva jivenatmananupravishya namarupe vyakarot || 3 ||

'Then that Being having said, Let me make each of these three tripartite (so that fire, water, and earth should each have itself for its principal ingredient, besides an admixture of the other two) entered into those three beings (devatâ) with this living self only, and revealed names and forms.

'"इनमें से प्रत्येक को मैं त्रिवृत् (तीन-सम्मिश्रित) कर दूँ" — ऐसा संकल्प करके उस देवता ने इन तीनों देवताओं में उसी जीव-आत्मा द्वारा प्रविष्ट होकर नाम और रूप का विस्तार किया।'
