Chandogya Upanishad 6.20

एतद्ध स्म वै तद्विद्वाँस आहुः पूर्वे महाशाला महाश्रोत्रिया न नोऽद्य कश्चनाश्रुतममतमविज्ञातमुदाहरिष्यतीति ह्येभ्यो विदाञ्चक्रुः ॥ ५ ॥

6.4.5 — etaddha sma vai tadvidvansa aahuh purve mahashala mahashrotriya na no'dya kashchanashrutamamatamavijnatamudaharishyatiti hyebhyo vidanchakruh || 5 ||

'Great householders and great theologians of olden times who knew this, have declared the same, saying, "No one can henceforth mention to us anything which we have not heard, perceived, or known." Out of these (three colours or forms) they knew all.

'यही जानकर पूर्वकाल के महाशाल, महाश्रोत्रिय विद्वानों ने कहा था — "अब कोई हमें ऐसा कुछ न बता सकेगा जो अश्रुत, अमत, अविज्ञात हो।" क्योंकि इन तीन रूपों से ही वे सबको जान गए थे।'
