Chandogya Upanishad 6.34

तँ होवाच यथा सोम्य महतोऽभ्याहितस्यैकोऽङ्गारः खद्योतमात्रः परिशिष्टः स्यात्तेन ततोऽपि न बहु दहेदेवँसोम्य ते षोडशानां कलानामेका कलातिशिष्टा स्यात्तयैतर्हि वेदान्नानुभवस्यशानाथ मे विज्ञास्यसीति ॥ ३ ॥

6.7.3 — tan hovacha yatha somya mahato'bhyahitasyaiko'ngarah khadyotamatrah parishishtah syattena tato'pi na bahu dahedevansomya te shodashanam kalanameka kalatishishta syattayaitarhi vedannanubhavasyashanatha me vijnasyasiti || 3 ||

The father said to him: 'As of a great lighted fire one coal only of the size of a firefly may be left, which would not burn much more than this (i.e. very ​little), thus, my dear son, one part only of the sixteen parts (of you) is left, and therefore with that one part you do not remember the Vedas. Go and eat!

पिता ने कहा — 'जैसे हे सौम्य, किसी बड़े प्रज्वलित अग्नि का केवल एक अंगारा, खद्योत (जुगनू) के समान, शेष बच जाए — वह उसके द्वारा अब अधिक दाह नहीं कर सकता; इसी प्रकार, हे सौम्य, तेरी सोलह कलाओं में से केवल एक कला शेष रह गई है; इसी से तू इस समय वेदों का अनुभव नहीं कर पाता। जा, खा; फिर मुझसे जानेगा।'
