Chandogya Upanishad 6.8

सदेव सोम्येदमग्र आसीदेकमेवाद्वितीयम् । तद्धैक आहुरसदेवेदमग्र आसीदेकमेवाद्वितीयं तस्मादसतः सज्जायत ॥ १ ॥

6.2.1 — sadeva somyedamagra aasidekamevadvitiyam | taddhaika aahurasadevedamagra aasidekamevadvitiyam tasmadasatah sajjayata || 1 ||

'In the beginning,' my dear, "there was that only which is (τὸ ὄν), one only, without a second. Others say, in the beginning there was that only which is not (τὸ μὴ ὄν), one only, without a second; and from that which is not, that which is was born.

'हे सौम्य, सृष्टि से पूर्व केवल सत् (वह जो है) ही था — एक ही, अद्वितीय। कुछ कहते हैं कि आरम्भ में असत् ही था — एक ही, अद्वितीय; और उस असत् से सत् उत्पन्न हुआ।'
