Chandogya Upanishad 7.10

सङ्कल्पो वाव मनसो भूयान्यदा वै सङ्कल्पयतेऽथ मनस्यत्यथ वाचमीरयति तामु नाम्नीरयति नाम्नि मन्त्रा एकं भवन्ति मन्त्रेषु कर्माणि ॥ १ ॥

7.4.1 — sankalpo vava manaso bhuyanyada vai sankalpayate'tha manasyatyatha vachamirayati tamu namnirayati namni mantra ekam bhavanti mantreshu karmani || 1 ||

'Will (saṅkalpa) is better than mind. For when a man wills, then he thinks in his mind, then he sends forth speech, and he sends it forth in a name. In a name the sacred hymns are contained, in the sacred hymns all sacrifices.

'संकल्प मन से अधिक है। जब मनुष्य संकल्प करता है तब मनन करता है, तब वाणी को प्रेरित करता है, और उसे नाम में प्रेरित करता है। नाम में मन्त्र एक होकर रहते हैं; मन्त्रों में कर्म।'
