Chandogya Upanishad 7.4

नाम वा ऋग्वेदो यजुर्वेदः सामवेद आथर्वणश्चतुर्थ इतिहासपुराणः पञ्चमो वेदानां वेदः पित्र्यो राशिर्दैवो निधिर्वाकोवाक्यमेकायनं देवविद्या ब्रह्मविद्या भूतविद्या क्षत्रविद्या नक्षत्रविद्या सर्पदेवजनविद्या नामैवैतन्नामोपास्स्वेति ॥ ४ ॥

7.1.4 — nama va rigvedo yajurvedah samaveda aatharvanashchaturtha itihasapuranah panchamo vedanam vedah pitryo rashirdaivo nidhirvakovakyamekayanam devavidya brahmavidya bhutavidya kshatravidya nakshatravidya sarpadevajanavidya namaivaitannamopassveti || 4 ||

'A name is the Rig-veda, Yagur-veda, Sâma-veda, and as the fourth the Âtharvana, as the fifth the Itihâsa-purâna, the Veda of the Vedas, the Pitrya, the Râsi, the Daiva, the Nidhi, the Vâkovâkya, the Ekâyana, the Deva-vidyâ, the Brahma-vidyâ, the Bhûta-vidyâ, the Kshatra-vidyâ, the Nakshatra-vidyâ, the Sarpa and Devagana-vidyâ. All these are a name only. Meditate on the name.

'ऋग्वेद नाम है, यजुर्वेद, सामवेद, चौथा अथर्वण, पाँचवाँ इतिहास-पुराण, वेदों का वेद, पित्र्य, राशि, दैव, निधि, वाकोवाक्य, एकायन, देवविद्या, ब्रह्मविद्या, भूतविद्या, क्षत्रविद्या, नक्षत्रविद्या, सर्प-देवजन-विद्या — यह सब केवल नाम ही है। नाम की उपासना करो।'
