Chandogya Upanishad 8.20

अथ य एष सम्प्रसादोऽस्माच्छरीरात्समुत्थाय परं ज्योतिरुपसम्पद्य स्वेन रूपेणाभिनिष्पद्यत एष आत्मेति होवाचैतदमृतमभयमेतद्ब्रह्मेति तस्य ह वा एतस्य ब्रह्मणो नाम सत्यमिति ॥ ४ ॥

8.3.4 — atha ya esha samprasado'smachchhariratsamutthaya param jyotirupasampadya svena rupenabhinishpadyata esha aatmeti hovachaitadamritamabhayametadbrahmeti tasya ha va etasya brahmano nama satyamiti || 4 ||

'Now that serene being which, after having ​risen from out this earthly body, and having reached the highest light (self-knowledge), appears in its true form, that is the Self, thus he spoke (when asked by his pupils). This is the immortal, the fearless, this is Brahman. And of that Brahman the name is the True, Satyam,

'अब जो यह सम्प्रसाद (शान्त, प्रसन्न पुरुष) इस शरीर से उठकर, परम-ज्योति में पहुँचकर, अपने स्वरूप में अभिनिष्पन्न होता है — वही आत्मा है, ऐसा उन्होंने कहा; वही अमृत है, अभय है, वही ब्रह्म है। इस ब्रह्म का नाम 'सत्यम्' है।'
