Dhammapada 17.7

पोराणमेतं अतुल, नेतं अज्जतनामिव। निन्दन्ति तुण्हिमासीनं, निन्दन्ति बहुभाणिनं। मितभाणिम्पि निन्दन्ति, नत्थि लोके अनिन्दितो॥

poranam etam atula, netam ajjatanam iva; nindanti tunhim asinam, nindanti bahubhaninam; mitabhanim pi nindanti, natthi loke anindito.

This is an old saying, O Atula, it is not just of today: they blame the one who sits silent, they blame the one who speaks much, they blame the one who speaks little. There is no one in the world who is not blamed.

हे अतुल, यह पुरानी बात है, आज की नहीं — चुप रहने वाले की निंदा होती है, अधिक बोलने वाले की भी, और कम बोलने वाले की भी। इस लोक में कोई भी निंदा से मुक्त नहीं।
