Dhammapada 18.13

सुरामेरयपानञ्च, यो नरो अनुयुञ्जति। इधेवमेसो लोकस्मिं, मूलं खणति अत्तनो॥

suramerayapananca, yo naro anuyunjati; idhevam eso lokasmim, mulam khanati attano.

And one who gives oneself to intoxicating drinks — such a person in this very world digs up one's own root.

और जो व्यक्ति मदिरा-पान में लिप्त रहता है — वह इसी लोक में अपनी जड़ें स्वयं खोदता है।
